The ability to comprehend and analyze English texts requires the application of various thinking and reading strategies. Students carefully read the texts and look at any available visuals/illustrations to develop ideas about the content. While reading a text, the students need to apply a repertoire of reading strategies to gain an understanding of it and work out the most important information.
In the webinar, we will be looking at various reading strategies (i.e. SQ3R, sequencing, coding, inferring and synthesizing) and will find out how we can apply them in the lesson from grade 5 through to 12/13 to foster students’ reading skills and improve their text comprehension. We will also look at ways of how to raise independent readers by preparing and staging a book club discussion with the help of reading strategies.
The webinar will be held in English.
